An first rate investment location. The Rostock-Laage Airport is situated at the motorway junction of the A 19 (Berlin-Copenhagen) and the A 20 (Hamburg-Szczecin), only 25 km from the biggest business centre in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (see map below). The airport is the nucleus of Rostock-Laage Airpark – an alpha-plus location for investment.
Joint military / civil use. A former military airport, Rostock-Laage now serves the region both with charter and scheduled flights. The co-operation with the German Federal Armed Forces continues. Since 2003, the airport is a location for the Eurofighter. Joint use comprises, for example, the sharing of the runway, taxiway apron system, and tower, as well as technics of air safety and the fire brigade.
The Airport's recent history. The following points trace the recent history of Rostock-Laage Airport:
The new terminal building. The new passenger terminal "Hans von Ohain" provides a capacity of 300.000 passengers a year. It was primarily designed as a terminal for charter flights with a capacity of handling 850 passengers an hour. The construction started in March 2004. The opening ceremony of the new terminal was on 9 September 2004. Air traffic started on 20 September.
The terminal measures about 90 x 60 m base area, with a clearance of 15,50 m. The terminal is called a 1,5-level-Terminal: viewed from the land side, arrival and departure are on one level, viewed from the runway, arrival and departure are on two levels.
Space for future development. Our airport and its surroundings are an ideal location with a variety of promising business opportunities.
